19 weeks
Today I am officially 19 weeks. Only one more week to go and not only will I be half way to seeing our beautiful little baby, but we will also know the sex. Next Thursday will be our ultrasound and hopefully we will have pictures and maybe a video to post. We are so thrilled for the chance to get to see the baby again. I’ve been told to have something sugary before I go because it helps the baby get moving. So donuts…here I come! :) Like I really need an excuse to eat sugar, but if it’s for the baby then by all means!
I thought I would include some information on what is going on with the baby currently. There are amazing websites out there that give me insight into what is actually happening in my body.Â
One of the most amazing aspects of your baby’s growth and development is that of the fetal brain. Your baby’s brain is one of the first organs to appear. Your baby’s oversized head shows the brain’s importance in his development. Because the nerves that connect the muscles to the brain have grown into place, your baby’s movements are consciously directed. Your baby’s ears stand out from the sides of the head and the buds for your baby’s permanent teeth appear. Your baby’s arms and legs have reached their relative proportions and his feet are approximately one inch long.
This is an impressive week for growth! The baby will increase in weight to 8 ounces (227 grams)! If you are having a girl, her ovaries now contain primitive egg cells. Lanugo appears all over the baby’s body. This fine hair will remain until birth draws nearer. Sometimes you can still see some on the baby’s face and ears after birth.
Permanent teeth buds are forming behind the already formed milk teeth buds.
So…those are just a few things that are happening right now. What an amazing blessing to have this baby growing inside of me. God is SO good.
