Lamellar Ichthyosis

Just a quick update:  Ally has been officially diagnosed with Lamellar Ichthyosis.  The genetic testing cannot tell us how severe it will be, but we kinda have an idea based on her skin now.  Her dry, brown scaley skin is mostly on her trunk (chest/tummy/back) as well as her scalp.  We haven’t seen any evidence of it on her legs, arm, or face yet.  We are still doing aquaphor, twice daily.  Once in the morning before getting dressed and after her bath at night.  I wish she could verbally tell me what it feels like, but that will have to wait awhile for now.  Here is a website that gives some good information on her skin disorder:  www.ichthyosis.com.   Please if you have any questions, ask away!  I will do my best to answer them.

12 weeks old

Ally was 12 weeks on Sunday.  What a big girl she is, too!  I think she is going through a growth spurt right now with wanting to eat more often as well as being a little fussier than usual.  She has discovered her hands and loves to suck, suck, suck.  When you hold her over your shoulder she is so engaged in everything around her, a total sponge.  Here are a few recent pics:

Activity Time

Here Ally is in here crib during her activity time just gazing away at her mobile.  Doesn’t she look so tiny in her crib?  We have just started this week putting her in her crib for naps and at night time. Last night she slept until 4:15am and then we got up at 7am.   She has been doing well, those naps just need to get a little longer for mommy to get some down-time.

2 month check-up

Ally went in for her 2 month check-up on Monday.  She was 10 pounds 12 ounces and 22.5 inches long.  She is doing a great job growing.  She had to get her first shots and it was awful!  Poor thing was already fussy when we got there and then after those shots it took me forever to calm her down.  I actually cried a little with her…I am making Jonny go next time and I will wait outside!

Ally has a tendency to be really gassy early in the morning (like 5am!) and has a hard time staying asleep, which has resulted in me getting less sleep.  We are down to one feeding a night (AMEN) and it looks promising if we could just get this gas thing under control.  So pray for some relief for her little belly.

On Mondays and Fridays we go to a workout class called Stroller Strides.  It is a fun way for me to get out of the house, get some much needed exercise, and meet other mommies.  Best of all she comes along with me.  It has been really fun getting to know some other moms and get out of the house for awhile.

We just want to praise the Lord for blessing us with her.  She is so amazing and it is now so hard to imagine our lives without her.
